This page answers it completely, because the answer is the strongest thing about our service: every record we show comes from the Georgia Department of Revenue’s own published unclaimed-property file.Not a data broker, not scraping, not guesswork — the State’s file, reloaded weekly.

The source: the State’s own file

Georgia law requires businesses to report property they cannot return to its owners, and the DOR publishes those records — the same data behind the State’s official search at gaclaims.unclaimedproperty.com. The published file runs to hundreds of thousands of records over $500, several gigabytes of raw data, updated by the State on a weekly cycle.

What happens to it each week

  1. Import.We load the State’s newest file in full — every record, every reported owner name and last-known city, every reporting company.
  2. Reconcile.Records the State no longer publishes — typically because a claim was paid — drop out of our database. Records new to the file appear. This is why our city pages can honestly say “as of” a specific weekly file date.
  3. De-duplicate. The raw file can list the same property more than once (joint owners, amended reports). We collapse those so a search shows one entry per property and our aggregate pages never double-count a dollar.
  4. Serve. The public search and the city data pagesread from that week’s database. Nothing is edited by hand.

What we filter out, and why

Cash property at or below $500. Georgia’s Money Match programreturns much of that band automatically, free. Filtering it out means we can’t even accidentally pitch you a service for money the State may already be mailing you.

Nothing else.We don’t hide records behind a paywall, and we don’t decorate them: what the State publishes is what you see. On aggregate pages we go one step further and show only totals and counts — never a name beside an amount.

How to double-check any record

Please do — we mean it. Search the same name at gaclaims.unclaimedproperty.com or call the DOR at (855) 329-9863. If the State shows the record, it is real, and you can claim it yourself for free without ever speaking to us. If our copy and the State’s disagree, the State wins — theirs is the live ledger, ours is a weekly photograph of it. That is also the standard we ask you to hold anyone in this industry to: verify the company through public records, verify the record with the State, and only then decide who — if anyone — you want handling the claim.
